Setra MicroCal WMDC Win10 Installation Guide
Setra MicroCal pressure calibrator rely on Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) to connect to the operation system to function properly. Unfortunately, Microsoft dropped the direct support of WMDC since Windows 8. Therefore, in order to make MicroCal work properly under Win10 please follow the following instruction to install WMDC and configure the setting prior to the use of Setra Micro Manager.
STEP 1 Install Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC)
Before installing WMDC make sure you don’t plug in the USB cable to MicroCal.
Use the following link to download and install correct version of WMDC based on your installed Win10 operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).

If the link is broken, use Goggle to search “WMDC 64-bit” or “WMDC 32-bit”. If you are not sure the installed Win10 is 32-bit or 64-bit, right click the [Start] button and then click [System] and then [About ]. Check the system
STEP 2 Configure

Change WMDC to run Compatibility mode
- Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Windows\WindowsMobile
- Right click on “WMDC.EXE” and choose “Properties”.
- Click on “Compatibility”
- Check the top box for Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista. Click Apply.
- Click on “Change settings for all users”.
- Check the top box for Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista. Click Apply, then OK.

- In window search field type “service” to find window service and run it as administrator.
- Scroll down to find “Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity”
- Right click and stop the service if it ‘s started.
- Right click and choose property. Click “Log On” tab and click the box for “Local System account”. Click “Apply” then “OK”.
- Scroll down to find “Windows Mobile-based device connectivity”
- Right click and stop the service if it ‘s started.

Run the command prompt as an administrator and run the following commands one at a time. It shall return “The operation completed successfully”. If you cannot find the command prompt, type “command” in window search to find it and select “Run as administrator”.

Turn on Win10 .NET Framework 3.5 Support
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off. Expand .NET Framework 3.5 and check both boxes. Allow Windows to update the feature.

Reboot PC
- Connect MicroCal and PC using USB cable. If the connection is successful, WMDC shall show the device is “Connected”. Do not setup the device. Simply close or minimize this opening screen.
- Open Device Manager. You shall see “Compact” in “Portable Devices” category. “Compact” is the device name of MicroCal calibrator.
- If you open window file explore, you shall also see a new device “Compact” and you can browse the available files.
- The Micro Manager can also be used now.
